There are various wig densities you may come across on the market. Usually, it is stated as a percentage. It should be noted that different sellers have different standards for wig density. Even if both are labeled 130% density, they will show different results and knotting effects when made by different manufacturers. Below are the display pictures of different wig density effects, which are hand-tied by Lansa wigs for your reference.
What is hair density ? Hair density is a very important indicator when making wigs. So before buying a wig, you must decide what density you want. Then what exactly is wig knot density? As we know, a wig has two important components: one is the cap structure, and the other is the hair. When we knot the hair onto the cap, it involves hair density. Under the same hair ratio, the more hair is knotted onto the cap, the denser the wig will be. Conversely, the less hair is knotted, the thinner it will be.
We refer to the natural hair density of most adults as standard medium density. Anything less than this standard is called light density, and anything higher is called heavy density. It’s also important to note that hair density can vary depending on hair thickness, knotting method, hair length, and cap base structure.
Extra light density for wig
Our workers have achieved a very light density effect by adjusting the knotting method and reducing the amount of hair per knot. Usually, we use this extra light density at the hairline to achieve a realistic and natural look.
Light density for wigs
Light density is usually applied around the hairline and temples. This density looks quite natural and is also a commonly used crochet densityLight density for wig
Medium density for wigs This is a commonly used hair density, suitable for all parts of the wig cap. Unless the client specifies otherwise, we generally use this standard medium density for wigs.
Thick density for wigs High-density wigs are suitable for people with relatively thin hair. They can give you a full and voluminous look.
Extra thick density for wigs
This density looks a bit too dense and airless. We usually thicken the density at the parting area on the top of the head.
What effects does hair density have
Before deciding on the hair density for your wig, it’s important to understand the effects that different densities will have
The higher the density, the more hair is used, and the price will increase accordingly, this is the cost issue.
The higher the density, the heavier the hair will be. This is an issue regarding wearing comfort. If you choose long hair with high density, the weight of the hair will increase sharply.
The higher the hair density, the larger the knots will be. This is an appearance issue. Of course, we do not use large knots for the hairline.
What hair density is right for you
First of all, age is a factor. As people get older, their hair gradually becomes thinner. Therefore, we recommend that older people wear wigs with lighter density. If the density is too high, it will look very unnatural.
Our wig factory has hundreds of different wig cap structures. Different cap foundations will result in different hair densities. Therefore, before confirming your cap structure, we can communicate and provide guidance to help you get the exact wig you want.
You should also decide whether to wear a light, thin wig, or a full, thick one, according to your face shape.
If you want a wig that's convenient for daily wear and easy to maintain, you should choose a low-density short style that’s lightweight. The longer the hair and the higher the density, the more difficult it is to maintain.
you need to know your natural hair density. That will guide you on which wig will look best and match your natural hair.
